Harlow V's welcomed HECL newcomers Tye Green for the first game of the 2017 season. Harlow won the toss and decided to bat first. This proved to be a brilliant decision as both openers dispatched any loose bowling to the boundary at ease. Openers Jack Sykes and Ben Yeats started off the season in style with Sykes scoring 185 from 144 balls including 32 x 4's and 1 x 6. 14 year old Yeats was also a centurion in the game, scoring a run a ball 118 including 14 x 4's and 1 x 6. Harlow amassed a total of 327 for 4 from their 45 overs.
In reply, Tye Green made a strong start, but Harlow stuck to their guns and tactics, restricting Tye Green below the required run rate. All of the bowlers used made strong contributions to the fielding effort with Nathan McCarthy making the crucial breakthroughs. He finished with figures of 2 for 66 from 10 overs. Matt Hart was extremely economical with his 5 overs only going for 11 runs! Harlow shared the wickets around and Tye Green eventually finished on 284 for 7 from their allotted overs, resulting in a 42 run win for Harlow V's. A terrific start to the season.
