Harlow Town CC 3rd XI secured local bragging rights after a thrilling three-run victory over Harlow CC 5th XI in an entertaining Herts & Essex Border League Division 4 clash.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Harlow Town posted 226 all out in 33 overs thanks to an aggressive batting display. Captain J. Williamson led from the front with a superb 47 from just 39 balls, striking nine boundaries. D. Gleeson provided the perfect finish with an unbeaten 43, while J. Flowers (38) and K. Nath (35) kept the scoreboard ticking with fluent knocks.

Harlow CC fought back well with the ball, D. Stone producing the standout spell with 3-26, while M. Hussain claimed 2-32 to ensure Town couldn’t build an even bigger total.

Set 227 to win, Harlow CC refused to go away. Wicketkeeper P. Fuller anchored the chase with a battling 53, supported by V. Bhuvanendran (26) and M. Shaikh (23). Despite the visitors staying in contention throughout, Harlow Town’s bowlers produced the key breakthroughs at crucial moments to keep the pressure on.

Needing four runs from the final stages, Harlow CC fell agonisingly short, finishing on 223-9 from their 40 overs, as Harlow Town held their nerve to seal a dramatic three-run derby victory and take maximum points.
