Tyler has been at Harlow CC for many years and has grown from a tiny youngster receiving coaching from the Baxter family to currently leading the 3rd XI for the past 2 seasons.
Tyler is a true clubman and will happily put his hand up for any situation, game, or volunteering role going. He’s involved in coaching on Thursday nights for Harlow CC Colts training, as well as being involved on a Tuesday evening coaching more cricket through the Changing Lives program. This group is primarily focusing on building girls’ cricket and Tyler is building those initial bridges for girls coming into cricket.
On the pitch, Tyler is willing to do whatever is needed for the team. His box of tricks for his bowling is plentiful, and he has developed into a solid batsman in the lower order. You could always count on Tyler to secure you the draw if required, but after a few winter seasons of indoor cricket and training, Tyler now adds those crucial runs lower down the order. There is always 100% effort in the field with Tyler. A player who is willing to throw himself around to save every run.
Tyler is a hard worker, always willing to train, and more importantly, always willing to learn new skills to develop his game further. He will always share those tips with anyone wanting to develop.
Tyler’s first 5 wicket haul was achieved in 2015, where he took 6 for 30 for the 4th XI against Chelmsford 5th XI. Tyler repeated a 6 wicket haul the following year taking his best ever figures of 6 for 22 against Harold Wood 4th XI in 2016. Tyler’s most recent 5 wicket haul came only a few weeks ago on the 5th of July, taking 5 for 20 against Chingford for the 3rd XI.
Tyler is currently 3rd on the all time bowling list for Harlow CC (Play-Cricket era).
Thank you for all you do for Harlow CC Tyler, and congratulations on your incredible achievement. I’m sure we’ll be talking about you taking your 500th wicket in no time!
We asked Tyler to give us an insight into his cricketing career…
When did you first play cricket?
I first started playing cricket when I was 4 years old and started playing adult cricket when I was 13.
What got you into cricket? Any inspiring cricketers you base yourself on?
I got into cricket through Paul and Christine Baxter and Jack Ellis and I started going to the training sessions when we were 4 years old. For bowling, I like watching Chris Woakes because he isn’t the quickest but swings it a lot and can be quite accurate. As a batsman I always enjoyed watching Ian Bell bat and watching all of his cover drives.
How long have you played for Harlow CC?
I have been playing adult cricket for 11 years now and this is my 12th season for Harlow CC. I have been at the club since I was 4 years old so over 20 years!!
What is your most memorable cricketing moment?
My most memorable cricketing moment is between 2, which one of them is watching that amazing Ben Stokes innings against Australia when he was batting with Jack Leach and the other one is watching England win the World Cup against New Zealand when it went to a super over!!
What is your most memorable cricketing moment for Harlow CC?
My most memorable moment for Harlow CC was when I played against Ilford. Sunni picked up 5 wickets at one end and I came on at the other end, and picked up 5 wickets and only went for 2 runs. That was a proud moment.
Any other major events/achievements/proud moments whilst at Harlow CC
Another proud moment is becoming 3rd team captain last season and helping the team stay up despite us being bottom of the table when I took over.
