2nd XI Report
Toss: Won – Elected to bowl
Conditions: Wet outfield, overcast skies
Result: Win by 8 wickets
Opposition Total: 121 all out
Chase: 122/2 in 21.3 overs
On a damp and overcast day ?️ we won the toss and made the right call to bowl first. Our opening bowlers, Sunny (Soulat Ali) and Jack Fuller, got us off to a dream start. Sunny was simply unplayable in his first spell, tearing through the top order with pace and precision to claim a sensational 5-wicket haul. Jack provided excellent support at the other end, picking up 2 wickets and applying pressure from both sides.
After the opening onslaught, Amir Farooq, Jake Messenger, and Paddy Matthews maintained the pressure with tight, disciplined spells. The opposition never recovered, managing just 121 all out. Jack Fuller came back to clean up the final wicket, sealing a near-perfect bowling performance.
Bowling Figures:
• Soulat Ali: 9 overs, 34 runs, 6 wickets
• Jack Fuller: 8.2 overs, 28 runs, 3 wickets
• Paddy Matthews: 7 overs, 25 runs
• Jake Messenger: 7 overs, 22 runs
• Amir Farooq: 4 overs, 2 runs, 1 wicket
Chasing a modest target, our innings started shakily with early dismissals of Zabi and Rizwan. However, Munim and Alfie stepped up under pressure and produced a match-winning partnership. The pair added a superb 100-run stand, playing with maturity and composure. Munim anchored the innings with a solid 52, while Alfie remained unbeaten on 63, guiding us home in just 21.3 overs.
It was another complete performance from the team – a clinical bowling display backed up by a composed batting effort. With this win, we extend our unbeaten run to 5 wins from 5 matches and sit top of the league table.
3rd XI Report
Harlow travelled to Upminster where there was a lot of questions about the weather and if we could get a game in. The toss was quite an important one to win and of course it was the first toss I have lost all season!! We batted first on a green and wet wicket and was going to be difficult at the start. We lost some early wickets but had some good contributions from Naseer, Max, Jahaur and Faz to put a respectable 172 on the board.
Faz 33, Max 31, Naseer 29, Jahaur 26
Right before we started our bowling innings the rain started to fall and covers did go on but quickly came off again. We started and Harris got an early wicket, however bowling became more and more difficult with the rain getting heavier and heavier. We carried on playing as ultimately the decision comes down to the umpires and it got to the point where the ball was like a bar of soap!! We got another wicket but it wasn’t enough as Upminster needed to be at 80 after 21 overs and was on 117, the rain got even heavier to the point where we couldn’t continue playing. Because we played over 20 overs we lost because of DLS!!
T Dobson 1/22, H Hamid 1/31, F Javed 0/22, J Afaq 0/33
4th XI Report
Wanstead won the toss and opted to field first, a decision Harlow would have done too.
Disastrous start losing 2 wickets with only 2 runs on the board.
Billy Clark (57) played a great innings on a very difficult wicket with support from Elliott Koopowitz (11) and Alex Coldwell (12) looked to repair the early damage but all three got out soon after each other.
Nathan McCarthy (37) and Liam Coldwell (17) put on 44 for 7th wicket but we collapsed losing last 4 wickets for one run leaving a small total of 148 to defend.
In response Liam Coldwell produced a hostile opening spell removing their opener and beating the bat several times and Lawrence Forde opening in the absence of the injured Harrison Wren who kept superbly, bowled two great spells 7-0-26-0.
Unfortunately it wasn’t our day as the visitors cruised to a 9 wicket win in 27.5 overs.
