Harlow Cricket Club's 2nd XI secured a commanding 79-run victory over Buckhurst Hill CC's Saturday 2nd XI in an Essex League Division 07 match held at Marigolds.

Batting first, Harlow posted a formidable total of 315 for 6 in their allotted 45 overs.

The innings was anchored by a sensational knock from Gull Hassan, who scored a blistering 135 runs off just 72 balls, including 12 fours and 8 sixes, at a strike rate of 187.50. Gul’s power hitting and rotation of strike with quick singles were met with enthusiastic applause from the appreciative Marigold crowd.
He was well-supported by Abdul Munim, who contributed a steady 52 runs off 75 balls.

Other notable contributions came from Zabihullah Hakimi (23) and Soulat Ali (20*). The team benefited from 38 extras, comprising 8 byes, 2 leg byes, 23 wides, and 5 no-balls.
Buckhurst Hill's bowlers faced a challenging task, with Tharuka Iddamalgoda emerging as the most successful, claiming 3 wickets for 59 runs in his 9 overs. Indika Wickramaratne also chipped in with 2 wickets, while Shahid Maan took 1.

In response, Buckhurst Hill managed 236 runs before being bowled out in 42.2 overs.

Daniel Platt led the resistance with a valiant 76 off 47 balls, hitting 14 fours and a six. Hermes Michael Solomonides added 35, and Indika Wickramaratne contributed 33 runs. However, the rest of the batting lineup struggled to build substantial partnerships.

Harlow's bowlers delivered a disciplined performance. Jack Fuller and Sunni Ali were the standout, taking 3 wickets each, while Amir Farooq claimed 2 wickets. Zabi Hakimi and Johar also made key contributions, each securing a wicket to dismantle the opposition's batting order.

A welcome return to Harlow cc for Rob and Liam Coldwell.

Harlow won the toss and elected to bat first. A positive start from the top order batsman but most failed to go on. In particular young Harrison Wren looked good until he was caught at point for 13. Eliot Koopowitz steady the ship finishing his innings with 2 overs to spare trying to push the total towards 200.

Epping’s innings started very slowly due to tight bowling from the openers and excellent fielding. After 10 overs Epping were 22 for 1. Harlow continued to get wickets despite Eppings agricultural approach throughout reaching the target with 3 wickets to spare. A spirited attempt with lots of positives to take into next week’s game v Loughton.
