
Harlow V secured a hard-fought four-wicket victory over North Weald II in a competitive 40-over clash at NWCC yesterday afternoon.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, North Weald II posted a total of 166 for 7. The innings was built around a standout performance by J. Flowers, who anchored the side with a composed 64. Flowers found some support from Tahir Shahzad (21), while B. Fuller (25*) and M. Tucker (17*) provided crucial late-order runs to ensure a defendable target.
The Harlow V bowling attack was led excellently by S. Robertson, who proved the biggest threat, claiming 3 wickets for 27 runs in his 8-over spell. E. Allen and M. Hussain also contributed with a wicket apiece to keep the run rate under control.
In response, Harlow V’s chase was a disciplined affair, reaching the target of 167 in the 39th over. M. Sholtz was the star with the bat for the visitors, narrowly missing out on a half-century with a vital 47. Contributions from A. Amin (25) and opener J. Sykes (23) kept the scoreboard moving through the middle overs.
North Weald II did not make the chase easy, led by a spirited bowling performance from B. Fuller, who mirrored his batting success by taking 3 for 29. K. Bhana was equally impressive and economical, finishing with figures of 2 for 16 from his 8 overs.
Despite the pressure from the North Weald bowlers, Harlow V remained composed. A. Dack (13*) steered the side over the finish line, ending the match on 169 for 6 with 10 balls to spare.
