Fourth XI Dominate to Secure Safety

Superb Effort in the Field Ensures Vital Win

Harlow fours had one job which was to beat bottom of the table and already relegated Buckhurst Hill to secure safety. After winning the toss, Harlow elected to field first on a green track. Dan Whellams set the tone picking up two wickets including the Buckhurst Hill skipper.
A brilliant piece of fielding from Emilia Allen secured the third wicket after she ran out there number 3 batter with a brilliant direct hit from mid on. Lawrence Forde who has been excellent all year with the ball finally got his reward when he found 2 in 3 balls to leave the hosts struggling at 22-5.
Another Lawrence wicket when he pinned there number 4 batter in front for 8 to leave them 37-6. A mini resistance from the 7th wicket partnership added 18 runs before Dan Knight got into the wickets breaking the mini partnership. His 2nd wicket came in his next over which left Buckhurst Hill in trouble at 64-8.
Emilia Allen wrapped up the hosts innings when she picked up the final 2 wickets which included an excellent caught and bowled as our plan was executed perfectly as we bowled the hosts out for 71.
The momentum was in our favour for safety but things couldn’t have started anymore dramatic when opener Amit was caught at short leg to leave us 0-1. Elliot Koopowitz and Dan Stone played with patience seeing of the new ball and any pressure that the home side was applying.
Eventually, Buckhurst Hill found their 2nd wicket courtesy of a brilliant direct hit from mid on to run out Dan Stone to leave Harlow 18-2. Waleed Ahmed arrived to the crease and his innings was vital. He played positively looking to score at any opportunity. With him and Elliot at the crease, they put on the match winning partnership of 57 runs to take us to the win we needed.
After securing our safety in Division 15 – 4th XI Premier Division West, we arrived back at the club to support our 1s and 3s who were competing in vital games. After the 1s found the win the needed, they secured their long awaited promotion back to division 2. We witnessed the 3s secure a nail biting win to secure their safety in the 3s Prem before the celebrations got underway in the evening to cap of another successful season.
