
Harlow CC 5th XI 290/5 beat Stansted CC 2nd XI 282/8 by 8 runs
Harlow CC 5th XI secured an exciting 8-run victory over Stansted CC 2nd XI in a high-scoring 40-over contest.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Harlow made an excellent 290/5 from their 40 overs. The innings was built around superb contributions from J Sykes, who smashed 120 from 97 balls, including 25 fours, and J Gordon, who made 95 from 97 balls with 13 fours and five sixes. The pair provided the platform for Harlow’s imposing total.
There were useful late contributions from A Dack (15 not out from 17) and V Bhuvanendran (9 not out from 6), while Harlow also added 26 extras.
With the ball, Harlow were made to work hard as Stansted responded with 282/8, but the bowling attack held its nerve when it mattered. D Stone led the way with 2/45 from 9 overs, while B Dack took 2/31 from 7 overs. A Dack also picked up 1/64 from 8 overs, with wickets also going to A Hodgson, M Hussain and J Sykes.
Despite Stansted pushing the chase deep into the innings, Harlow’s bowlers and fielders held firm to restrict them to 282/8, completing an excellent 8-run win.
A strong all-round team performance, with Sykes and Gordon providing the batting fireworks and the bowling unit doing enough under pressure to secure the victory.
