A big well done to Steve Fisk and his young Fifth XI after a fine display at Thundridge 1st XI in the HEBL League yesterday.
On one of my favourite village cricket grounds, surrounded by a bowl of corn fields and a fine Norman style church as a backdrop, the home side batted first and were put under intense pressure by Zain Ullah Hamoard and Haris Hamid. The young pacemen took a total of 7 wickets between them supported by Emilia Allen and Reece Galvin who finished off the innings with one a piece. Thundridge totalled 236 all out.
Zain 4-37, Haris 3-29, Emilia 1-30, Reece 1-1
It was Reece who led proceedings with the bat, striking a match high 63, backed up by Biju Matthew (24) and Haris Hamid (21). The experience of the home team won out though with our side putting up a creditable 166 in reply.
Well done to all. Very competitive display from the entire team.
